Remembering Those Lost While Serving the 306th

Remembering Those Who Did Not Return

The men of the 306th Bomb Group served at tremendous cost. This section honors those who lost their lives while serving with the 306th during the World War II era and provides resources for families, descendants, and researchers seeking information about their service and final resting places.

The Wings Folded While Serving the 306th roster brings together the names of those lost while serving with the Group, along with squadron assignments and crew positions where known. It provides a broader record of loss than overseas cemetery records alone, since not all who died while serving the 306th were ultimately buried overseas.

Burial & Memorial Records

The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) administers American military cemeteries and memorials overseas and commemorates U.S. service members who died in service to our country.

This collection provides burial and memorial information for members of the 306th Bomb Group who are buried or memorialized in American military cemeteries overseas. The records have been compiled from ABMC information and organized to assist families and researchers in locating individual 306th personnel and their places of burial or memorialization.

Not all 306th Bomb Group personnel who died during World War II remained buried overseas. Following the war, families were given options regarding the final disposition of their loved ones, and some remains were returned to the United States for burial. As a result, the ABMC records should not be considered a complete listing of all 306th Bomb Group wartime losses.

Further Casualty Listings

Additional casualty and burial information can also be found in two issues of Echoes, which contain listings of Combat Deaths and Others Killed, including some men initially listed as missing in action and later declared dead. Where known, those lists also identify the location or state of burial:
